Cody Horton has enjoyed a number of leadership, operations and recruiting roles.
Cody currently serves as a staffing leader in the Microsoft's Windows and Windows Live group. He leads a team of experienced recruiting professionals who recruit a wide range of technical and business focused roles. Cody champions diversity recruiting initiatives and is exploring innovative approaches to improve recruiting efficiencies.
Cody is a thought leader and evangelist for Video Interviewing technologies and leads the Linkedin discussion group: Virtual Interviewing Leaders. This discussion group provides a forum for customers, consultants and video interview providers to share best practices and collaborate on virtual and video interviewing topics. Cody is knowledgable and passionate about to video interviewing industry and provides guidance and insight on the overall industry.
Previously he was instrumental in leading and innovating as the Director of Campus and Diversity Recruiting for Walmart where he championed virtual interviewing, innovative diversity recruiting efforts and an enterprise approach to college recruiting.
Prior to Walmart, he led the Diversity Recruiting and University Relations team at Dell. Previously, he managed the talent acquisition team supporting Dell Global Services. Before joining Dell, Cody was the National Diversity Recruiting Manager for Deloitte Services LP and was responsible for creating and implementing recruiting strategies for building a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Prior to Deloitte Services LP, he served over 5 years at Microsoft where he worked as an Enterprise Technical Support Manager, Senior Technical Recruiter and Diversity Staffing Consultant. Cody says that one of the most rewarding aspects of his career has been the opportunity to work with so many smart and passionate people.
Before joining Microsoft, Cody was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), teaching networking and IT courses to perspective network engineers and trainers.
Cody started his career in the US Navy where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander and served in a variety of leadership, recruiting, and operational roles.
In Cody's word, "My experience as a Naval Officer gave me the opportunity to gain leadership and management experience very early in my career, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. As a Naval Officer, I was given tremendous responsibility for people, operations and assets. It was great to have the opportunity to solve management, technical and people problems during my career in the Navy".
Cody earned a Masters of Science in Management (Information Technology) from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico and maintains his SPHR certification.
